Mating Season - TV Comedy Dating Show

As part of my course at the NFTS, I was assigned two TV shows from the graduating TV Entertainment students to provide graphics for. This one was called Mating Season, a dating show themed around the mating rituals of various animals. I worked on this show with another designer on the course, Florencia Usuki. The deliverables required by the producer and director were: a logo for the title, an opening title sequence, lower thirds, stings and end credits.

At first, we tried to use a minimal and elegant style to capture the sultry nature of dating, but this felt like a departure from the show’s eccentricity.
The producer and director wanted the show to have a retro feel to the nature of the graphics, so we decided to use more vibrant colours to fulfill this.

For the title sequence, I came up with the idea of having the dog hosts travelling through different terrains, witnessing the three mating rituals featured in the show: the pufferfish art, the peacock dance and the giraffe neck swing. I was responsible for animation and Florencia designed the assets for the piece.
